The D&D Magna Latch Top Pull is Australia's most widely specified pool gate latch for perforated panel and aluminium fencing systems. The top-pull mechanism means the latch release is positioned at the top of the gate — well above the reach of young children — making it the preferred option for residential pool gates.

Supplied as a complete lockable kit including the latch body, striker/keeper, and all fixings. The latch automatically engages when the gate closes (self-latching) and is key-lockable from both sides for added security.

The Magna Latch is the Option 1 latch recommended in the Perf installation guide. It mounts to the latch side of the gate with no packer required, making it the simpler of the two gate latch options.

What is the difference between the Magna Latch and the face mount latch?

The Magna Latch (ML-TL) is a top-pull latch — the release mechanism is at the top of the gate, out of reach of children. It's the simpler option requiring no packer. The Master Face Mount Latch (MR-FMLSL) is a side-pull lockable latch mounted to the face of the gate frame — it requires the PP-PACKER-SP packer to achieve correct clearance. Both are AS1926.1 compliant.
Does this latch need a packer?

No — the Magna Latch Top Pull mounts directly to the gate frame without a packer. This is one of the reasons it's the most popular choice for Perf gates.
Is the latch self-closing or just self-latching?

The Magna Latch is self-latching — it automatically engages when the gate closes. For the gate to be self-closing, you also need the Tru Close hinges (TC-H-AT-B) which provide adjustable spring tension to pull the gate closed.
How high should the latch be mounted?

Under AS1926.1, the latch release mechanism must be at least 1500mm above the ground on the pool side, or located such that it cannot be reached by a child through or around the gate. The top-pull Magna Latch naturally satisfies this when mounted at the correct position — refer to the installation guide for exact positioning.

Warranty — the honest version

There is no manufacturer warranty on this product. None. Your guarantees under Australian Consumer Law still apply — goods must be of acceptable quality for what they are, and what they are is a budget imported fence, sold as exactly that. All Sales Are Final

Due to the nature of our products — large-format aluminium fencing panels, gates and hardware that are ordered, warehoused and dispatched to order — we do not accept returns or offer refunds for change of mind or incorrect selection.

We strongly encourage you to carefully review your order before confirming purchase. Check your colour selection (Satin Black or Monument Satin), confirm your required quantities, and verify that you have the correct products for your installation method before placing your order.

Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Items

While we do not accept change of mind returns, we take product quality and order accuracy seriously. If you receive a product that is:

  • —Damaged — physically damaged during transit or delivery
  • —Defective — has a manufacturing fault or defect affecting its function
  • —Incorrect — does not match the product code or colour you ordered

Please contact us within 24 hours of delivery at sales@safestpoolfence.com.au with clear photographs of the issue. We will assess the claim and arrange a suitable resolution, which may include replacement or refund.

Claims made after 24 hours of delivery cannot be accepted — please inspect your order carefully at the time of delivery or collection before leaving the depot or signing off on delivery.

Order Cancellation

Once an order has been placed and payment received, it enters our processing queue immediately. Cancellation may not be possible once the order has been forwarded to the warehouse. If you need to cancel, contact us immediately at sales@safestpoolfence.com.au and we will advise whether cancellation is still possible.
